Jackson Rathbone - The Spencer Bell Legacy Project

Spencer Bell — poet, musician, artist — passed away in December of 2006 from adrenal cancer. His artistic legacy is being kept alive by his family and friends.

Who is Spencer Bell?
After living in Brooklyn, NY for two years, writing and performing music with his band (“Cactus”—eventually called “The Stevedores” as they came to learn that another band already owned the “Cactus“ name) and attending the New York Film Academy learning 3D computer animation, Spencer briefly returned home in May 2006—just long enough to charge his batteries, deliver a few pizzas, sock away a few bucks and then join his band mates, Ben Johnson (drums), Adam Webb-Orenstein (bass), Sean Fernando (keyboards) and Jake Miller (guitar) in Madison, Wisconsin, to continue their musical lives together all under one roof. It was a dream come true for Spencer and the guys. cotinue reading

Design a shirt for the Spencer Bell Legacy Project
The Spencer Bell Legacy project has been selling its original design since its inception. But new friends means new demand and they are opening up the opportunity for a fan to design the next Spencer Bell Legacy t-shirt. The design may be anything you believe spreads the message that "The Music Lives On". cotinue reading

Show your support
Those 100Monkeys fans attending the Bamboozle music festival held on May 1 and 2 at the Meadowlands Sports Complex in NJ, will be able to buy a new Spencer Bell CD and a new Spencer Bell Legacy t-shirt.

Jackon Rathbone's sister, Kelly Garrett Rathbone, will be at the DeepEllum Arts Festival on April 2-4, 2010 in Dallas, TX. She is creating a collection specifically for this festival and has generously agreed to donate part of her profits to adrenal cancer research.

You can make a donation to the University of Michigan in Spencer's name.

Kellan talks about adopting Kola

Kellan talk about meeting his dog, Kola, at the animal shelter for the first time, how he feels about fur, and what "Twilighters" can do to help homeless animals.

Check out PeTA's site today to learn how you can help.

And to prove we practice what we preach, here is Kelly's dog (Woody) who she rescued from an ASPCA shelter in Philadelphia. Woody was an older dog who had some health issues and no one wanted to adopt him : (
He is now much healthier, well loved and well fed!!!

Send some love to PeTA volunteers in Haiti

PETA has joined the Animal Relief Coalition for Haiti (ARCH) group of animal organizations working to address the desperate needs of animals in Haiti. We've also been in touch with rescuers from foreign emergency services and the American military, including those aboard the USNS Comfort, asking them to offer water, food, and care to displaced Haitian animals.

We are no strangers to helping animals when disaster strikes. For nearly 30 years, PETA has worked to save countless animals in the U.S. and around the world. In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, PETA teams rescued more than 300 cats, dogs, birds, and other animals and helped care for thousands more at emergency animal shelters.

The situation in Port-au-Prince is bleak for all living beings right now, but you can lift the spirits of those working so diligently for animals in Haiti by posting a quick message of support to rescue workers right now.

By sending your own brief message to those working to help cats, dogs, and other animals left without adequate food or veterinary care, you'll also receive periodic updates on their efforts to help.

Kellan supports PeTA

Twilight Lexicon posted this great article about Kellan and his support for PeTA:

“Twilight star Kellan Lutz has always been very vocal about his love for rescue pups Kola and Kevin. But now, the actor is taking the cause of animal adoption to a national platform, serving as PETA’s latest spokesperson in their “Adopt, Don’t Buy” campaign.

Shot by celebrity photographer Collin Stark, the advertisement features Lutz posed with his first dog, Kola. “She’s my best friend,” he tells PETA in an exclusive interview. “There are countless numbers of animals out there. It’s our job to take them under our wing.”

HAPPY 18TH BIRTHDAY TAYLOR

Twilighters for clean water

1 out of every 8 people on this planet do not have access to clean, safe drinking water. Children and adults die everyday from the bacteria and disease infested water they have no choice but to drink, bathe in, cook and wash with. There is absolutely no reason why it has to be like this for these people.

We can change this! If we work together to raise this money, Charity Water will build a well for a community in need. This could save hundreds of lives over several generations!

We are attempting to raise $5,000 in 90 days. So far we have $60 with 36 days left.

Help us show the world the power of the Twilight fanbase!
Donate 50 cents, $20, anything you can in the next month! Tell your friends!

Vote for ALSF

Visit the Good Earth Cares web site and vote up to once per day for Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation. Good Earth Cares gives away half of it's profits to charity. By casting your vote you will help ensure that Good Earth Cares donations go the right charities.

Chaske Spencer - United Global Shift

We are pleased to present our first actor charity feature on Volturi Ventures. We are featuring United Global Shift which is supported by Chaske Spencer.

Mission
We are causing a united global shift in what is possible for humanity, focusing on the environment, employment, entrepreneurship, health and education. A shift from survival and scarcity to possibility, partnership and peace.

We are Creating Conscious Full Spectrum Responses
We design and deliver conscious full spectrum learning in action programs for individuals, non-profits and corporations.

We create and support projects that foster dignity and equity for all in the entertainment, advertising, internet, music, film, television, fashion and sports industries. These projects create a shift in people's thinking and actions.

We work with the written word and visual medium to create "possibility" campaigns that will educate people on the current systems in which we live. We empower people to create new patterns and alternate systems. We are creating a movement of people who can see and shift systems and patterns (pattern markers).

We work with non-profits to shift the concept of charity to one of reciprocity, where we acknowledge that giving is a source of growth and opportunity for us all.

We work with elected officials, non governmental organizations and individuals to create equity in the systems, access and well-being for all instead of a few and a mindset of peace and partnership.

We work with corporations to foster a triple bottom line methodology (people, profit and planet).

We create and support new icons in all industry to empower leadership for action vs leadership for advocacy.
For more information on United Global Shift and to see some of the projects that it supports and ways you can become part of the shift, visit United Global Shift

As we reported in February, we will be selling raffle tickets at our upcoming Eclipse event for three people to win brunch with Chaske in New York. All money raised from this raffle will be donated to United Global Shift.

Twihards 4 Charity

Twilight Examiner

There are two characteristics certainly belonging to Twilight fans: passion and generosity. On any number of occasions, this fandom has been known to join hands for a given cause and outmuscle even the highest of expectations.

So, what Rob DeFranco and 211me have decided to do, with the help and support of Twilight star Peter Facinelli, is create a place where Twilight fans can go to share in the joy of giving.

"What Rob is trying to do and what I support is this website and uniting the Twihards for a common goal," says Peter Facinelli. "The one thing that binds Twilight fans is the franchise and the books, and I think that if we band together and have those Twihards focus their energy on things other than the books, I think great things can happen because they’re so dedicated and so passionate." continue reading

Taylor Lautner to star in Stretch Armstrong

Taylor Lautner (the Twilight saga) will play the title character in the upcoming 3-D superhero adventure Stretch Armstrong, to be released in 2012.

Stretch Armstrong is moving to 2012 to allot time to shape the project into a 3-D superhero adventure and to accommodate Lautner's existing commitments.

"In the past two years, Taylor has emerged as a real star at the global box office. He brings the perfect balance of energy and athleticism to the role of an unlikely super hero with a fantastic super power," said Langley. "We couldn't be more pleased that he has agreed to be our Stretch."

Stretch Armstrong is based on the iconic action figure made popular around the world beginning in the 1970s and re-launched in the 1990s. Academy Award®-winning producer Brian Grazer (A Beautiful Mind, 8 Mile, American Gangster) will team with Hasbro to bring Stretch Armstrong to life. Steve Oedekerk (Bruce Almighty) has written the screenplay, and Hasbro's Goldner and Schneir also produce.

World Cancer Day 4th February 2010

The Charter of Paris chose the 4th of February as World Cancer Day. Since 2006, UICC has coordinated World Cancer Day activities, supported by members, partners and a variety of international bodies.

The World Cancer Day, 2010 theme is to "learn about vaccines against viruses that cause cancers (e.g. HBV vaccines)."

The World Health Organization joins with the sponsoring IUAC with a general theme of "cancer can be prevented, too." WHO adds the simple measures of no tobacco uses, a healthy diet and regular exercise and limited alcohol use to the above-mentioned protection against cancer-causing infections. continue reading
