Habitat For Humanity Launches World Habitat Day

On October 4, Habitat For Humanity will join efforts around the world to mark World Habitat Day – a day the United Nations has set aside to call attention to the dire need for affordable, adequate housing.

The Hunger Games

Twilight will always be our first love (in book terms) - but we also love The Hunger Games by Suzzane Collins. We just found this cool new blog called The Hob which is a fan site devoted to Suzanne Collins and The Hunger Games trilogy. Make sure you check it out if you are a fan of the books. Team Peeta!!!!

Fan Encounter with Peter

The daughter of one of our TwilightMOM friends went to see Peter in Sandusky. She even took her mom along on a stick - we love this photo, Lily is so cute.

Lily got to meet Peter twice and so did her mom on the second visit. We hear that Peter recognised Lily and gave her plenty of hugs - we are only slightly jealous.

What am I reading?

After having lunch with Chaske Spender yesterday, I was curious to find out more about a new movie that he is due to star in called Winter in the Blood (a movie based upon the first novel of James Welch which was first published in 1974). Chaske was so passionate while he was talking about the story that I had to learn more.

Winter in the Blood is a novel about the modern life of an American Indian. This novel takes a look at Indians through the eyes of someone who has lived this life and knows it better than most writers of this novel type. The plot follows the plight of a young man who has lost his sense of identity due to his heritage, family secrets, and the death of his brother. The young man accidentally discovers some truths about his family's past and this information finally frees him to discover the man he really is. It is a novel full of truth and hope. bookrags

I have decided to read the book before it's made into a movie and I will post my review in the coming months. To follow the process of this move visit the Facebook page or blog.

Eclipse 2010 update

We want to let you all know that as a result of our Eclipse event this summer we were able to raise US$4,050 for Alex's Lemonade Stand and US$850 for United Global Shift. The event was a huge success and we thank everyone for their kind generosity.

To date, Volturi Ventures has raised over US$17,000 for charity.

Chaske Spencer lunch

A HUGE thank you to Chaske Spencer for joining us for lunch yesterday. Chaske kindly agreed to allow us to raffle lunch with him in NYC to raise money for United Global Shift.

We are pleased to say that we were able to raise over US$800 for UGS at our Eclipse event - thanks to everyone who took part in the raffle.

As you can tell by our smiles we all had a great time.
